WHAT IS CIQA?

The Centre for Internal Quality Assurance or CIQA addresses the constant need for systematic quality control and improvement measures in education.

CIQA serves as a foundation for instituting rigorous internal quality assurance processes, enabling educational institutions and platforms to adapt to the needs of the learners to get relevant and industry-ready knowledge. Its relevance lies in fostering continuous improvement and enhancing learning outcomes to help us provide the students with education of world-class quality.

INCORPORATION OF

CIQA

The KLEF Centre for Online Education(COE) established the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance to demonstrate its commitment to providing high-quality education for everybody. The CIQA was established on April 1st, 2019, following the rules of the University Grants Commission Online Courses or Programs Regulations in 2018.

The CIQA’s principal purpose is to maintain best-in-class quality throughout all courses offered by the KLUCOE. The institution functions systematically to raise, develop, and maintain knowledge about quality assurance in education, as well as to oversee the procedural aspects of doing so.

The CIQA reports directly to the Director of KLUCOE, KLEF, making it a transparent body devoted to preserving and enhancing quality.

The KLU COE is dedicated to delivering quality education for the all-round development of students to meet the changing requirements of industry, business, and society.

There would be a periodic review of all the processes followed for the conduct of online programs to ensure that the quality parameters are within the range as defined by the university.

OBJECTIVES OF CIQA

The objective of the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance is to develop and put in place a comprehensive and dynamic internal quality assurance system to ensure that programmes of higher education in the online learning mode being implemented by the KLEF are of acceptable quality and further improved continuously.

FUNCTIONS OF CIQA

The functions of the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance would, inter alia, include the following, namely:

  • 1. To maintain quality in the services provided to the learners.
  • 2. To undertake self-evaluative and reflective exercises for continual quality improvement in all the systems and processes of the KLEF Centre for Online Education (COE).
  • 3. To contribute to the identification of the key areas in which the KLEF Centre for Online Education (COE) should maintain quality.
  • 4. devise mechanisms to ensure that the quality of open and online programmes matches the quality of relevant programmes in conventional mode.
  • 5. To devise mechanisms for interaction with and obtaining feedback from all stakeholders, namely, learners, teachers, staff, parents, society, employers, and the government, for quality improvement.
  • 6.To suggest measures to the KLEF Centre for Online Education (COE) for qualitative improvement.
  • 7. To facilitate the implementation of its recommendations through periodic reviews.
  • 8. To organise workshops, seminars, and symposiums on quality-related themes, ensure the participation of all stakeholders, and disseminate the reports of such activities among all the stakeholders in higher educational institutions.
  • 9. To develop and collate best practices in all areas leading to quality enhancement in services to the learners and disseminate the same to all concerned in the KLEF Centre for Online Education (COE).
  • 10.To collect, collate, and disseminate accurate, complete, and reliable statistics about the quality of the program(s).
  • 11. To ensure that the program project report for each program is according to the norms and guidelines prescribed by the Commission and, wherever necessary, by the appropriate regulatory authority having control over the program.
  • 12. To put in place a mechanism to ensure the proper implementation of program project reports.
  • 13. To maintain the cord of annual plans and annual reports of the KLEF Centre for Online Education (COE), review them periodically and generate actionable reports.
  • 14. To provide inputs to the KLEF Centre for Online Education (COE) for the restructuring of programs in order to make them relevant to the job market.
  • 15. To facilitate system-based research on ways of creating a learner-centric environment and to bring about qualitative change in the entire system.
  • 16. To act as a nodal coordinating unit for seeking assessment and accreditation from a designated body for accreditation, such as NAAC, etc.
  • 17. adopt measures to ensure the internalisation and institutionalisation of quality enhancement practices through periodic accreditation and audit.
  • 18. To coordinate between the KLEF Centre for Online Education (COE) and the Commission for various quality-related initiatives or guidelines.
  • 19. To obtain information from other higher educational institutions on various quality benchmarks, parameters, and best practices.
  • 20. To record activities undertaken on quality assurance in the form of an annual report of the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance.
  • 21. It will be mandatory for the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance to submit annual reports to the statutory authorities or bodies of the KLEF Centre for Online Education (COE) about its activities at the end of each academic session. A copy of the report in the format specified by the Commission, duly approved by the statutory authorities of the KLEF Centre for Online Education (COE), shall be submitted annually to the Commission.
